Conditions throughout the eastern Caribbean were mixed during the month of March. Trinidad ranged from extremely dry in the south to extremely wet in the north; Tobago extremely wet to severely dry; Grenada extreme to moderately wet; Barbados, St Vincent, Saint Lucia, Martinique, St Maarten and Anguilla normal; Dominica slightly dry to normal; Guadeloupe normal to very wet; Antigua slightly wet to normal; St Kitts moderate to slightly wet; St Croix moderate to slightly dry and St Thomas slightly dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from moderately wet in southwestern Guyana to exceptionally dry in northern Guyana and extremely dry in the vicinity of the northern Suriname/French Guiana border. Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico was predominantly normal ranging to slightly dry in the east. The Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Grand Cayman were normal. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to moderately dry in the extreme east. Northern Bahamas ranged from slight to extremely wet and Belize from normal in central areas to extremely dry on the southeastern coastal areas and to exceptionally dry in the north.
January to March 2024
Mixed conditions were seen over the three month period throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad, Tobago and St Thomas were moderately dry; Grenada normal; Barbados slightly dry; St Vincent and Saint Lucia normal to slightly wet; Martinique and Dominica normal to moderately dry; Guadeloupe normal to exceptionally wet; Antigua extreme to very wet; St Kitts very to moderately wet; St. Maarten very to slightly wet; Anguilla moderately wet to normal and St Croix moderate to slightly dry. Conditions in the Guianas ranged from extremely wet in southern Guyana to extremely dry in central and eastern areas of French Guiana and in the vicinity of the Suriname border. Aruba was slightly dry and Curacao slightly dry to normal. Puerto Rico ranged from normal to very wet. The Dominican Republic was mostly slightly dry ranging to moderately dry in east central areas and to normal in the extreme south. Jamaica was mostly normal ranging to slightly wet in the south. Grand Cayman was normal. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to slightly dry in the extreme east. Northern Bahamas was normal to exceptionally wet and Belize extremely dry in the south ranging to moderately wet in the north.
October 2023 to March 2024
Over the six month period in the eastern Caribbean mixed conditions were seen. Trinidad was slight to severely dry; Tobago severely dry; Grenada predominantly moderate to slightly dry in the extreme north; Barbados and Guadeloupe normal to slightly wet; St Vincent, Saint Lucia, Martinique, St Kitts, St Maarten and Anguilla normal; Dominica slightly wet; Antigua slight to moderately wet; St Croix moderately dry and St Thomas predominantly slightly dry to normal. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from slightly wet to exceptionally dry. Aruba and curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from normal in the southeast to extremely wet in the north. The Dominican Republic ranged from slightly dry to slightly wet from west to east. Jamaica was mostly normal ranging to moderately wet in the east. Grand Cayman was slightly wet. Cuba was exceptionally wet in the west ranging to moderately dry in the extreme east. Northern Bahamas ranged from moderate to extremely wet and Belize from very wet in the south to normal in northeastern areas.
April 2023 to March 2024
Normal to below normal conditions were experienced over the twelve month period throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad and Guadeloupe were moderate to severely dry; Tobago and Dominica moderately dry; Grenada, Barbados, Saint Lucia, St Kitts, St Maarten, Anguilla, and St Thomas normal; St Vincent and Antigua moderate to slightly dry; Martinique normal to moderately dry and St Croix mostly slightly dry to normal. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from predominantly normal in Guyana to exceptionally dry in the north of Guyana, eastern parts of Suriname and western areas of French Guiana. Aruba was slightly dry and Curacao was normal. Puerto Rico ranged from extremely dry in the south to normal in the north. The Dominican Republic ranged from extremely wet in southwestern areas to normal in northern and eastern areas. Jamaica ranged from moderately dry in the west to normal in the east. Grand Cayman was slight to moderately dry. Cuba ranged from exceptionally dry in west central areas to exceptionally wet in the west and to slightly wet in the extreme east. Northern Bahamas was normal to exceptionally wet and Belize from moderately dry to normal from south to north.
April 2022 to March 2024
Apart from St Vincent and Saint Lucia that were normal to slightly wet, normal to below normal conditions prevailed over the two year period throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada, Barbados, Martinique, Dominica, Guadeloupe, Antigua and St Thomas and St Maarten normal; St Kitts slight to predominantly moderately dry, Anguilla slightly dry to predominantly normal and St Croix moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from exceptionally wet to severely dry. Aruba and curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from moderately dry in the south to slightly wet in the north. The Dominican Republic ranged from normal in the west to moderately wet in the east/northeast. Jamaica was mostly normal ranging to moderately dry in the extreme east. Grand Cayman was normal. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to severely dry in the east. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to exceptionally wet and Belize from moderately wet in the south to moderately dry in the north.
