The WMO Caribbean RCC views research and development leading to the delivery of improved products and services to climate sensitive sectors in the Caribbean as essential for the sustainable socio-economic development of the Caribbean region. The WMO Caribbean RCC continues the excellent work in this area started by its predecessor the Applied Meteorology and Climatology Section (AMCS) of the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology (CIMH).

The WMO Caribbean RCC shares the view that sound research and development increases the state of knowledge in the Caribbean while simultaneously building and sustaining human and technical capacity at the national and regional levels is critical for regional development. These activities are enhanced through national, regional and international multi-disciplinary collaborations.
