There were mixed conditions during the month of May 2023 throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad, St Kitts and St Thomas were between 0 to 0.75 o C warmer; Grenada and St Maarten were between 0.25 and 0.75 o C warmer;  Barbados and Martinique were between 0.25 to 1.50 o C  warmer; Saint Lucia was between 0.75o C warmer to 0.75 o C cooler; Dominica 0.75 o C warmer in the extreme southeast to 0.25 o C cooler; Guadeloupe was between 0.25 o C warmer to predominantly between 0 and 0.25 o C cooler; Antigua was between 0 and 0.25 o C warmer; St Croix was between 0.75 o C cooler to 0.25 o C warmer. Temperatures in the Guianas ranged from 0.25 o C cooler to 2.50 o C warmer. Aruba was between 0 and 0.75 o C warmer and Curacao between 0.25 and 0.75o C cooler. Puerto Rico ranged from 1.50 o C cooler to 2.50 o C warmer. The Dominican Republic was between 0.25 to 0.75 o C warmer. Jamaica ranged from 0.75 o C cooler in the southeast to 2.50 o C warmer in the northwest. Grand Cayman was 0.75 to 1.50 o C warmer. Northern Bahamas was 0.25 o C cooler to 0.75 o C warmer, and Belize was between 0.25 to 1.50 o C warmer.

 

March to May 2023

There were mixed conditions for March to May 2023 throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad was predominantly between 0 and 0.25 o C warmer ranging to 0.75 o C warmer in the southeast; Barbados ranged from 0.25 o C cooler to 1.50 o C warmer; Grenada was between 0.25 to 0.75 o C warmer; Saint Lucia was between 0.75 o C warmer to 0.75 o C cooler; Martinique ranged from 0 to predominantly between 0.25 o C and 0.75 o C warmer; Dominica and St Thomas were between 0.25 warmer and 0.25 o C cooler; Guadeloupe and St Kitts were between 0  to 0.25 o C cooler; Antigua was between 0.25 to 0.75 o C cooler; St Maarten was between 0 and 0.25 o C warmer;  St Croix was between 1.50 to 0.25 o C cooler west to east. The Guianas ranged from 1.50 o C warmer in Guyana to 0.25 o C cooler in French Guiana. Aruba was between 0.25 and 0.75 o C warmer and Curacao between predominantly between 0.25 and 0.75 o C cooler ranging to and 1.50 o C cooler. Puerto Rico ranged from 0.75 o C warmer  to 0.75 o C cooler. The Dominican Republic ranged from 0.75 o C warmer to predominantly between 0 to 0.25 o C warmer. Jamaica ranged from 1.50 warmer to 1.50 o C cooler from west to east. Grand Cayman was between 1.50 o C and 0.25 o C warmer west to east. Northern Bahamas ranged from 0.25 o C to 2.50 o C warmer and Belize from 0.25 o C cooler to 1.50 o C warmer.

December 2022 to May 2023

Temperature anomalies were mostly normal to below normal over the six-month period throughout the eastern Caribbean. Predominantly normal to below normal conditions were seen throughout the eastern Caribbean during the month of August, except for St Maarten and Anguilla which were moderately wet. Trinidad ranged from moderate to exceptionally dry; Grenada moderately dry; Barbados, Martinique, Antigua, St Kitts and St Croix normal; St Vincent moderate to predominantly slightly dry; Saint Lucia, Dominica, Guadeloupe and St Thomas slightly dry to normal. In the Guianas conditions ranged from mostly normal to exceptionally dry in northern parts of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana and to extremely wet in northwestern French Guiana, and to moderately wet in southern Guyana. Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from slightly wet on the northwestern coast to slightly dry in the east. The Dominican Republic was predominantly exceptionally wet with extremely wet conditions in the extreme east. Jamaica ranged from slightly dry in the west to predominantly normal. Grand Cayman was normal. Cuba ranged from normal in central areas to exceptionally wet in the west and east. Northern Bahamas was normal to moderately wet and Belize was normal.

June to August 2023

Conditions throughout the eastern Caribbean were predominantly normal ranging to below normal, particularly in the south, during the three month period. Trinidad ranged from normal to exceptionally dry; Grenada ranged from severely dry on the southeastern border to predominantly moderately dry; Barbados, Saint Lucia, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Kitts, St Maarten, Anguilla and St Croix normal; St Vincent moderate to slightly dry; Dominica and St Thomas normal to slightly dry. The Guianas ranged from exceptionally wet in southern Guyana to exceptionally dry on the northern coast of Guyana, as well as central and northeastern areas of French Guiana. Aruba and curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from slightly wet in the extreme west to moderately dry in the east. The Dominican Republic ranged from slight to exceptionally wet. Jamaica ranged from moderately dry in the west to predominantly normal. Grand Cayman was exceptionally dry. Cuba was mostly exceptionally wet ranging to normal in eastern areas. Northern Bahamas was slight to extremely wet and Belize was normal.

March to August 2023

Over the six month period conditions throughout the eastern Caribbean were mostly normal ranging to below normal. Trinidad, Grenada, Barbados, St Vincent, saint Lucia, Martinique, Antigua, St Kitts, St Maarten and Anguilla normal; Dominica moderate to slightly dry; Guadeloupe slightly dry to predominantly normal; St Croix and St Thomas slightly dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from very wet in central Guyana to exceptionally dry in southeastern French Guiana. Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from normal in the west to slightly dry in the east. The Dominican Republic ranged from normal in the west to very wet in the northeast. Jamaica ranged from slight to moderately dry south to north. Grand Cayman was normal. Cuba was exceptionally wet in the west, ranging to extremely dry in the east. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to exceptionally wet and Belize ranged from normal in central areas to slightly dry in the south and to extremely dry in the north.

September 2022 to August 2023

Conditions throughout the eastern Caribbean were normal to above normal over the twelve month period. Trinidad ranged from normal in the southwest to exceptionally wet in the northeast; Grenada slight to predominantly moderately wet; Barbados, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Antigua, St Kitts, St Maarten, Anguilla, St Croix and St Thomas normal; St Vincent moderately wet; Saint Lucia and Dominica predominantly slightly wet ranging to normal. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from exceptionally wet in southern Guyana and northwestern French Guiana to normal in the north and extreme eastern areas of French Guiana. Aruba and Curacao were slightly wet. Puerto Rico was slightly wet in the northwest and normal elsewhere. The Dominican Republic was moderately wet in the extreme southwest ranging to normal in northern areas. Jamaica was mostly normal ranging to slightly dry in the east. Grand Cayman ranged from moderate to predominantly severely dry. Cuba ranged from exceptionally dry in west central areas to exceptionally wet in the west and to slightly wet in the extreme east. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to exceptionally wet and Belize was moderately wet in the southwest ranging to moderately dry in the northeast.

September 2021 to August 2023

Over the two year period conditions were mostly normal to below normal in the north and above normal in the south of the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad moderate to exceptionally wet; Grenada very wet; Barbados predominantly severe ranging to extremely dry in the extreme southeast; St Vincent predominantly slightly wet ranging to normal in the north; Saint Lucia and St Thomas normal; Martinique, Dominica and St Croix slight to moderately dry; Guadeloupe, Antigua and Anguilla slightly dry to normal and St Kitts moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from exceptionally wet in most of Guyana as well as central and northeastern areas of French Guiana ranging to slightly dry in northern Suriname.  Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from moderately wet in the extreme northwest to normal in the east. The Dominican Republic ranged from mostly normal to moderately wet in the northwest.  Jamaica was mostly moderately dry ranging to slightly dry in the east. Grand Cayman was moderately dry. Cuba ranged from extremely dry in southcentral areas to exceptionally wet in the west and to very wet in the northeast. Northern Bahamas was exceptionally wet and Belize was moderately dry to normal south to north.

During the month of July the central portion of the eastern Caribbean experienced normal to above normal rainfall, while the north and the south experienced normal to below normal Trinidad ranged from exceptionally wet to exceptionally dry southwest to northeast; Grenada, St Maarten and Anguilla moderately dry; Barbados and Dominica normal to slightly wet; St Vincent, St Croix and St Thomas slightly dry; Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe and Antigua normal; Martinique slight to moderately wet and St Kitts normal to slightly dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from very wet in southern Guyana to exceptionally dry in southcentral French Guiana. Aruba was normal and Curacao slightly wet. Puerto Rico ranged from normal to slightly dry; The Dominican Republic was very wet in central areas ranging to moderately wet in the west and to slightly wet in the east. Jamaica ranged from exceptionally dry in the west to moderately wet in the east. Grand Cayman was predominantly moderately dry ranging to severely dry in the east. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the extreme west to extremely dry in southeastern areas. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to very wet and Belize ranged from exceptionally wet in the extreme east to normal in southern and northern areas.

May to July 2023

Conditions throughout the eastern Caribbean were mixed over the three month period. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from extremely wet in central and northern Guyana to extremely dry in southeastern French Guiana. Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico ranged from normal to slightly dry. The Dominican Republic ranged from severely dry to normal from southwest to east . Jamaica ranged from moderately dry to normal. Grand Cayman was normal. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to severely dry in the east. Northern Bahamas ranged from exceptionally wet to normal and Belize ranged from normal in central areas to slightly dry in the south and to extremely dry in the north.

August 2022 to July 2023

Puerto Rico ranged from extremely to slightly wet from west to east. The Dominican Republic ranged from predominantly normal in central areas to very wet in the east and to moderately wet in the southwest. Jamaica was moderate to slightly dry. Grand Cayman was moderately dry. Cuba ranged from exceptionally dry in west central areas to exceptionally wet in the west and to normal in the east. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to exceptionally wet and Belize was normal in central areas ranging to slightly wet in the south and north.

August 2021 to July 2023

There were different experiences in conditions between the normal to below normal  in northeastern areas of the Caribbean and normal to above normal  in the southern portion over the two year period. Trinidad predominantly exceptional to extremely wet; Grenada, Dominica and St Thomas normal; Barbados, Martinique and Anguilla slight to moderately dry; St Vincent slightly wet; Saint Lucia slightly wet to predominantly normal; Guadeloupe slight to extremely dry; Antigua and St Kitts severe to moderately dry; St Croix and St Maarten moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions were predominantly exceptionally wet in Guyana and French Guiana ranging to slightly dry in northern areas of Suriname. Aruba was extremely wet and Curacao was very to extremely wet. Puerto Rico ranged from moderately dry in the south to normal in the north. The Dominican Republic was normal. Jamaica ranged from normal in the northwest to exceptionally dry in the east. Grand Cayman ranged from predominantly normal to slightly dry. Cuba ranged from extremely wet in the west to severely dry in the east. Trinidad was exceptionally wet to moderately dry; Grenada very to moderately wet; Barbados and St Maarten moderately wet to normal; St Vincent, Antigua and St Thomas normal; Saint Lucia slightly wet in the south to predominantly normal; Martinique slightly wet to slightly dry; Dominica and St Kitts slight to moderately dry; Guadeloupe predominantly normal to slightly dry; Anguilla slight to predominantly moderately wet and St Croix moderately wet. In the Guianas, conditions were mostly normal ranging to extremely wet extreme north of Guyana and to exceptionally dry in northeastern French Guiana. Aruba was slight to moderately dry and Curacao was moderately dry. Puerto Rico ranged from moderately wet in the southwest to moderately dry on the northeastern coastline. Hispaniola ranged from exceptionally wet in the south to severely dry in the extreme east. Jamaica ranged from extremely wet in the northwest to slightly wet in the east. Grand Cayman was moderately dry. Northern Bahamas ranged from exceptional to moderately wet and Belize was normal in the south ranging to moderately dry in the north and to exceptionally dry in the west.

April to June 2023

During the three month period, conditions throughout the eastern Caribbean were predominantly normal to below normal. Trinidad ranged from exceptionally wet to normal; Grenada moderately wet to normal; Barbados, Saint Lucia and Antigua normal; St Vincent moderate to slightly dry; Martinique and Guadeloupe normal to moderately dry; Dominica moderately dry; St Kitts and St Thomas moderate to slightly dry; St Maarten and St Croix slightly dry to normal and Anguilla normal to slightly wet. In the Guianas, mostly normal conditions prevailed with very wet conditions experienced in the extreme northeastern coast of Guyana and severely dry conditions in southeastern French Guiana. Aruba ranged from moderate to severely dry and Curacao was extremely dry. Puerto Rico was moderately wet in the south ranging to slightly dry in the northeast. Hispaniola ranged from exceptionally wet in areas spanning from central and southern areas of Haiti to southwestern areas of the Dominican Republic, and to extremely dry in east central Dominican Republic. Jamaica ranged from slightly wet to normal west to east. Grand Cayman was predominantly slightly dry to normal south to north. Northern Bahamas was exceptional to moderately wet and Belize normal in the south ranging to moderately dry in the north and to exceptionally dry along the eastern coastline.

 

January to June 2023

Mostly normal to below normal conditions were experienced over the six month period in the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad was exceptionally wet to normal southeast to northwest; Grenada slightly wet to normal; Barbados, St. Kitts, Anguilla and St Thomas slightly dry to normal; St Vincent severe to moderately dry; Saint Lucia and Antigua normal; Martinique, Dominica and Guadeloupe normal to severely dry; St Maarten moderately dry to normal and St Croix moderately dry. Most of the Guianas ranged from normal to moderately wet, but with conditions in French Guiana ranging from exceptionally wet in northwestern areas to severely dry in the southeast. Aruba was normal and Curacao was predominantly slightly dry to normal. Puerto Rico ranged from severely dry in the south to normal in the north. Hispaniola ranged from exceptionally wet in southern areas to exceptionally dry in central areas of the Dominican Republic. Jamaica and Grand Cayman were normal. Northern Bahamas ranged from exceptionally wet to normal and Belize ranged from normal in the extreme south to exceptionally dry in northeastern areas.

 

July 2022 to June 2023

Conditions in the Guianas ranged from exceptionally wet to normal. Aruba was normal and Curacao normal to predominantly slightly wet. Puerto Rico ranged from extremely wet in the west to slightly wet in the east. Hispaniola ranged from moderately wet on the southern Haiti/Dominican Republic border to normal in the west and east. July 2021 to June 2023

 

Apart from in the south, predominantly normal to below normal conditions prevailed over the two year period in the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad was exceptionally wet; Grenada and St Thomas normal; Barbados severely dry to normal; St Vincent, Martinique and Antigua severe to moderately dry; Saint Lucia and Anguilla slightly dry to predominantly normal; Dominica moderately dry to normal; Guadeloupe normal to exceptionally dry; St Kitts and St Maarten slight to moderately dry with St. Kitts predominantly slightly dry and St. Maarten predominantly moderately dry and St Croix moderately dry. In the Guianas, exceptionally wet conditions dominated in Guyana and French Guiana, with exceptionally wet to moderately dry conditions in Suriname. Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico was mostly normal with moderately dry conditions in the southeast and moderately wet areas in the extreme northwest. Hispaniola was predominantly normal with slight to moderately dry conditions in the extreme southwest of Haiti. Jamaica ranged from slightly wet in the west to extremely dry in the east. Grand Cayman was normal. Northern Bahamas ranged from exceptionally wet to normal and Belize was normal in central areas ranging to severely dry in the south and the north.

Northern Bahamas was  0.25  to  2.50 o C warmer, and Belize was predominantly warmer than usual ranging from 0 to 1.50 o C warmer, with a small area in the northeast border ranging to 0.25 o C cooler.

There were mixed conditions for February to April 2023 throughout the eastern Caribbean.
