Predominantly normal to below normal conditions were experienced throughout the islands of the eastern Caribbean during the month of April. Trinidad, Tobago and St Maarten were normal to moderately wet; Grenada and St Vincent moderately dry; Barbados, Guadeloupe and Antigua normal; Saint Lucia, St Croix and St Thomas moderate to severely dry; Martinique severely dry; Dominica, moderate to slightly dry; St Kitts slightly dry to normal and Anguilla moderate to extremely wet. In the Guianas, conditions were predominantly normal ranging to slightly dry in northeastern Guyana and eastern French Guiana to moderately wet in northern French Guiana. Aruba was slightly dry and Curacao ranged from normal to predominantly slightly dry. Puerto Rico ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to normal in the east. The Dominican Republic ranged from exceptionally wet in the southeast to slightly wet in the northwest. Jamaica ranged from slightly wet to moderately dry from west to east. Grand Cayman was normal. Cuba ranged from moderately dry in west central areas to normal in western and eastern areas. Northern Bahamas was normal and Belize ranged from normal in the south to moderately dry in the north.
February to April 2024
Mixed conditions were experienced throughout the eastern Caribbean over the three month period. Trinidad, Tobago and Dominica were slightly dry to normal; Grenada and St Vincent moderately dry; Barbados normal; Saint Lucia and St Thomas moderate to severely dry; Martinique extreme to moderately dry; Guadeloupe slightly wet to normal west to east; Antigua slight to predominantly moderately wet; St Kitts moderately wet; St Maarten and Anguilla moderate to predominantly very wet and St Croix slight to predominantly moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from very wet in southern Guyana to exceptionally dry on the central Suriname/ French Guiana border. Aruba was moderately dry and Curacao slightly dry. Puerto Rico ranged from mostly exceptionally wet to slightly wet in the east. The Dominican Republic ranged from normal in western areas to exceptionally wet in the extreme east. Jamaica was normal. Grand Cayman was moderately dry. Cuba ranged from extremely wet in the extreme northwest to normal in the east. Northern Bahamas ranged from slight to extremely wet and Belize from severely dry in southern areas to slightly dry in the north.
November 2023 to April 2024
Predominantly normal to below normal conditions were experienced over the six month period throughout the eastern Caribbean, except for Barbados which ranged from slight to predominantly moderately wet and Anguilla which was mostly normal to slightly wet. Trinidad, Grenada, St Vincent and Saint Lucia were normal; Tobago normal to moderately dry; Martinique slightly dry; Dominica predominantly slight to moderately dry; Guadeloupe and Antigua moderately dry; St Kitts severe to moderately dry; St. Maarten slightly dry to predominantly normal; St Croix extremely dry and St Thomas slight to moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from extremely wet in southern Guyana to exceptionally dry in the vicinity of the Suriname/ French Guiana border. Aruba was slight to mostly moderately dry and Curacao was normal. Puerto Rico ranged from normal in southern areas to extremely dry in the north. The Dominican Republic was mostly normal ranging to moderately wet in southwestern and eastern areas. Jamaica ranged from normal to exceptionally wet in the extreme east. Grand Cayman was predominantly moderately dry to slightly dry. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to slightly wet in some extreme southern areas. Northern Bahamas ranged from very to exceptionally wet and Belize from moderately dry in the south to normal in the north.
May 2023 to April 2024
Apart from Anguilla which was normal to mostly slightly wet, normal to below normal conditions were mostly experienced over the twelve month period throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad ranged from severe to mostly extremely dry; Tobago, Dominica and St Croix moderate to slightly dry; Grenada, Barbados, Martinique and St Maarten normal; St Vincent normal to slightly dry; Saint Lucia and St Thomas slightly dry; Guadeloupe moderate to predominantly severely dry; Antigua and St Kitts moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions ranged from extremely wet in southern Guyana to exceptionally dry in parts of eastern Suriname to much of French Guiana. Aruba was slightly dry and Curacao normal. Puerto Rico ranged from slightly wet in the west to normal in the east. The Dominican Republic ranged from extremely wet in the west to normal in the east. Jamaica was predominantly normal with slightly wet conditions on the northwestern coast. Grand Cayman was moderately dry. Cuba ranged from extremely dry in west central areas to extremely wet in the west and east. Northern Bahamas ranged from slight to exceptionally wet and Belize ranged from moderately dry to normal from south to north.
May 2022 to April 2024
Over the two year period normal to below normal conditions were experienced throughout the eastern Caribbean. Trinidad, Martinique and Anguilla were slight to moderately dry; Tobago moderate to severely dry; Grenada severe to extremely dry; Barbados, Dominica and St Kitts slightly dry to normal; St Vincent severe to slightly dry; Saint Lucia, Guadeloupe, Antigua and St Thomas normal; St Maarten and St Croix moderately dry. In the Guianas, conditions were mostly normal ranging to exceptionally wet in southwestern Guyana to severely dry in southeastern French Guiana. Aruba and Curacao were normal. Puerto Rico was extremely dry in the extreme south ranging to moderately wet in the northwest. The Dominican Republic was normal in western areas ranging to very wet in the northeast. Jamaica ranged from severe to slightly dry from northwest to southeast. Grand Cayman was predominantly slight to moderately dry in the extreme east. Cuba ranged from exceptionally wet in the west to extremely dry in the southeast. Northern Bahamas was normal to exceptionally wet and Belize moderately wet in the south to moderately dry in the north.
