The islands of the eastern Caribbean experienced mixed conditions throughout the month of September. Trinidad, Antigua and St. Kitts were predominantly normal with some slightly wet areas ; Tobago moderately wet;;  Grenada moderate to very wet from north to south; Barbados, St. Maarten, Anguilla and St. Croix slight to moderately dry; St. Vincent moderately dry; St Lucia and Dominica normal to slightly dry; Martinique was normal to severely dry from south to north; Guadeloupe from moderately wet in the west to extremely dry in the east;; and St. Thomas normal. Curacao was predominantly normal. In the Guiana’s, conditions ranged from exceptionally wet in south-western Suriname to exceptionally dry at the northern Suriname/French Guiana border, with portions of north central Guyana being very wet and northern northern French Guiana extremely wet. Puerto Rico ranged from moderately wet in the east to moderately dry in the west. Conditions in Hispaniola ranged from normal to exceptionally wet from south to north, with the exception of the eastern central areas of the Dominican Republic which were slight to exceptionally dry. Jamaica was mostly normal with the exception of a small area in the extreme North West which was slight to moderately dry, and in the south that was slight to moderately wet. Grand Cayman was exceptionally dry. In Cuba, western and eastern areas were normal to moderately wet with west central areas being slight to moderately dry, while northern Bahamas ranged from severely dry to severely wet. Belize ranged from exceptionally dry in central areas to normal in the west and to moderately dry in the north and south.

July to September 2019

The  islands of the eastern Caribbean experienced mixed conditions throughout the three month period .Trinidad was normal to severely dry from the extreme north east to the south west; Tobago and St Maarten slightly wet;, Grenada  normal; Barbados moderate to extremely dry; St Vincent moderate to severely dry; St Lucia slight to moderately dry; Martinique from normal in the south to severely dry in the extreme northern areas; Dominica was predominantly normal, with slight to moderately dry conditions in the extreme southern areas; Guadeloupe was exceptionally dry to very wet from east to west; Antigua slight to moderately wet; St. Kitts predominantly normal except for the southern areas which were slightly wet; St. Croix moderately wet; and St. Thomas very wet. Curacao was normal to slightly dry. In the Guiana’s, conditions ranged from exceptionally wet in south-western Guyana, southern border areas of Guyana and Suriname, and northern French Guiana to exceptionally dry at the northern Suriname/French Guiana border. Puerto Rico was normal to moderately wet from west to east. Conditions in Hispaniola ranged from very wet at the northern Haiti/Dominican Republic border to exceptionally dry in eastern Dominican Republic. Jamaica was normal, whereas Grand Cayman ranged from extreme to exceptionally dry from east to west. Cuba ranged from normal in west central areas to to moderately wet in the west and to very wet in eastern areas, while in the Bahamas conditions were slight to exceptionally wet. Conditions in Belize ranged from exceptionally dry in central areas to   moderately dry in the south and to extremely dry in the north.

April to September 2019

During the six month period rainfall in the islands of the eastern Caribbean was mainly normal to below normal, except for Guadeloupe that was moderate wet to moderately dry from west to east, and Antigua that was slight to moderately wet. Trinidad was slight to extremely dry from the extreme north east to the south west; Tobago, Grenada, St Maarten and Anguilla normal; St Vincent and St. Kitts normal to slightly dry; Barbados moderate to extremely dry, whereas, St Lucia was slight to severely dry. Martinique was moderate to extremely dry from south to north; Dominica normal to moderately dry from north to south; ; St Croix and St Thomas moderately dry. Curacao was moderately dry. In the Guiana’s, conditions ranged from extremely wet in western Guyana to severely dry at the northern Suriname/French Guiana border and northeastern French GuianaPuerto Rico was mostly normal in the east and central areas, with slight to moderately dry conditions in the west. Hispaniola was predominantly normal with slightly dry areas in southern Haiti and slight to severely dry conditions in southern and eastern  Dominican Republic. In Jamaica, conditions ranged from moderately dry in central areas  normal in the east and and to slightly wet in the west; whereas Grand Cayman was moderately dry. Cuba ranged from normal in west central areas to slightly wet in the west, and slight to very wet in the eastern areas. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to very wet, and Belize was slight to exceptionally dry, from the south to  north.

October 2018 to September 2019

Conditions in the islands of the eastern Caribbean over the twelve month period were primarily normal to below normal, with the exception of a small area in the Leeward Islands that included Guadeloupe that was moderately wet to moderately dry from west to east. Trinidad ranged from moderately dry to exceptionally dry from the northeast to the southwest;; Tobago, St. Vincent, St. Maarten and Anguilla were normal to slightly dry; Grenada and Antigua normal; Barbados exceptionally dry; St Lucia normal to extremely dry from the south to the north; Martinique and St Croix severe to extremely dry; Dominica normal to severely dry from north to south; St. Kitts normal to moderately dry; and St. Thomas slight to moderately dry.  Curacao was normal to moderately dry. Conditions in the Guianas ranged from severely dry in central Guyana to exceptionally dry at the northern Suriname/French Guiana and northeast French Guiana. Puerto Rico ranged from slightly dry in the east to extremely dry in the west. Hispaniola ranged from normal in central areas of the Dominican Republic to exceptionally dry in western and eastner area. Jamaica was predominantly normal, ranging from slight to moderately dry in the east and in the northwest, and to slight to moderately wet in the west. Grand Cayman was severely dry . Cuba was predominantly normal, sloght to exceptionally dry in the east and with the exception of the eastern areas which ranged from slight to exceptionally dry, and the extreme west which was slightly wet. In northern Bahamas, conditions ranged from normal to very wet, and in Belize, conditions were from slightly dry on the extreme southern border to exceptionally dry in the north.

Mixed conditions were seen throughout the islands of the eastern Caribbean in August. Trinidad ranged from normal to exceptionally dry from northwest to southeast; Tobago normal to severely dry; Grenada moderately dry; ; Barbados slight to extremely dry; St. Vincent, St Lucia and Martinique normal to slightly dry; Dominica, St. Kitts, St Maarten and Anguilla normal to moderately wet; Guadeloupe moderately wet to moderately dry from west to east; Antigua and St Thomas moderately wet; St. Croix was extreme to exceptionally wet.; In the Guiana’s, conditions ranged from normal to exceptionally wet -the north eastern portion of Guyana, eastern portions of Suriname, north and southeast French Guiana were normal, whereas the north central areas were exceptionally wet. Curacao was normal. Puerto Rico ranged from moderately wet to slightly dry from south east to North West. Hispaniola ranged from normal in the western Dominican republic and Eastern Haiti to extremely dry, eastern portion of the Dominican Republic, and moderately dry in southwestern areas of Haiti . Jamaica ranged from normal to moderately dry, north to south, and Grand Cayman was predominantly slightly dry. Cuba ranged from normal in the eastern and western areas to exceptionally wet in central areas, while Northern Bahamas ranged from moderate to extremely wet. Belize ranged from normal in the northern and southern areas to exceptionally dry in central areas.

June to August 2019

Conditions in the eastern Caribbean ranged from very wet to exceptionally dry over the three month period. Trinidad ranged from moderately dry in the south and northeast to severely dry in central, north and north western areas; Tobago and Barbados predominantly moderately dry; Grenada slightly dry; St. Vincent normal to slightly dry; St Lucia normal to extremely dry; Martinique slight to moderately dry; Dominica normal to moderately dry; Guadeloupe moderately wet to extremely dry from west to east; Antigua normal to slightly wet; St. Kitts normal; St Maarten slight to moderately wet;. St Croix moderate to very wet; and St. Thomas slight to moderately wet. In the Guiana’s, conditions ranged from exceptionally dry to exceptionally wet, with eastern Guyana and most of Suriname and French Guiana normal to exceptionally wet in north and southwest Guyana, to exceptionally dry at the northern Suriname/French Guiana border. Curacao was moderately dry. Puerto Rico ranged from slightly wet to severely dry from east to west. Hispaniola ranged from normal in central Dominican Republic to extremely dry in eastern and southern areas of the portions of the DR and to severely dry in southwestern Haiti. In Jamaica, with the exception of the extreme west which was normal, conditions ranged from slightly dry in the north to extremely dry in the south, while Grand Cayman was normal in the east and slightly dry in the west. Cuba ranged from normal in the eastern and western areas to exceptionally wet in central areas. Northern Bahamas ranged from normal to exceptionally wet. Apart from the extreme south which was normal, Belize ranged from slightly dry to exceptionally dry from west to east.

March to August 2019

For the six-month period, rainfall in the eastern Caribbean islands was normal to below normal with the exception of Antigua that was slightly wet and Guadeloupe which though predominantly normal was slightly wet in the northwest . Trinidad ranged from extremely dry in the west to moderately dry in the east; Tobago slight to moderately dry; Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Maarten and Anguilla normal;; Barbados moderately dry; St. Lucia from normal in the south to extremely dry in the north; Martinique and St. Kitts moderately dry; Dominica from normal in the north to severely dry in the south; St. Thomas and St. Croix moderately dry. Conditions in the Guianas ranged from extremely wet in north-central Guyana to exceptionally dry in northeastern French Guiana, and with most of Suriname and French Guiana being normal. Curacao was moderately dry. Conditions in Puerto Rico ranged from extremely dry in the west to moderately dry in the east, but Hispaniola ranged from exceptionally dry in western Haiti to normal in central to eastern Dominican Republic. Conditions in Jamaica ranged from moderately wet in the extreme west to moderately dry in central areas and the extreme east. Cuba ranged from normal in the northwest to exceptionally dry in the east, while northern Bahamas was normal to extremely wet from north to south. Belize ranged from normal in the south to exceptionally dry in the north.

September 2018 to August 2019
